After taking an extra stride to take advantage of the space he created with the fake, the junior defenseman unleashed a firm shot from distance to put Michigan ahead 3-0 with 2:10 left. As he walked the blue line toward the middle of the offensive zone, Truscott faked a shot that forced the Lakers to commit and tense up in the slot. After driving down the right wall to create space for his teammates, Brindley dropped a pass back to Truscott at the right point.
Late in the period, Gavin Brindley worked his way across the blue line as he led the Wolverine attack into the Laker zone.
